Job Objective & Summary

  •  Greet guests as they arrive at and depart from the property; and assist them with valeting their vehicles and assisting with guest luggage in and out of the vehicles. Responsible for attending to immediate needs of each guest upon arrival and throughout their stay for concierge services, etc.  Responsible for creating a welcoming arrival and warm departure experience.

Essential Functions

  • Greet and welcome every Guest. Ensure every Guest receives a fond farewell.  Identify and explain hotel facilities and features to Guests while escorting them.
  • Safely and securely drive every guest vehicle. Safely and securely stores guest vehicle keys.
  • Communicate parking procedures to guests/visitors.
  • Open doors and assist guests/visitors entering/leaving property.
  • Test communications equipment to ensure it works properly.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.
  • Supply guests with directions/information regarding property amenities, services, hours of operation, and local areas of interest.
  • Contact appropriate individual/department as necessary to resolve guest request/problem.
  • Dispatch bell/valet staff as needed.
  • Notify appropriate personnel of vehicle maintenance needs.
  • Re-route traffic when parking facility reaches maximum capacity.
  • Unlock/open and close/secure parking facility.
  • Notify Loss Prevention/Security of guest reports of theft. Escort unwelcome persons off property; contact Loss Prevention/Security when necessary.
  • Work collaboratively, with other departments to ensure that the department runs efficiently.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of all hotel features, layouts, room types and amenities. Maintain a thorough knowledge of hotel restaurant concepts, menu price range, dress code, and ambiance, daily house count and expected arrivals/departures, scheduled daily group activities, names and locations of meeting/banquet rooms, Hours of operation of outlets, Local area and culture.
  • Control and monitor traffic at the driveway.
  • Accommodate all Guest requests expediently and courteously. Follow up with designated hotel personnel to ensure completion of request.
  • Ensure that the Door/Valet desk is attended to at all times; that all posting positions are maintained.
  • Hail taxi cabs for residents and Guests. Arrange transportation for guests/visitors.
  • Document all Guest calls/requests for car retrievals and assistance
  • Maintain cleanliness and working condition of departmental equipment/supplies. Maintain the condition of hotel entrance, parking lot, and luggage storage areas.
  • Ensure that all important information is documented in the daily logbook. Accept and record departure information.
  • Handle Guest complaints following procedures.
  • Assists guests with luggage and baggage handling. Assist Guests in locating and retrieving lost luggage.
  • Relay accurate directions to Guests on inquiries regarding destinations in local areas.
  • Acquires all necessary arrival and departure information from the Front Desk.
  • Communicates check in venue and hotel information to guests.
  • Maintains the reader board and ensures communication of arrival and departure information.
  • Follow and Perform all LQA and Forbes Standards for the department.
  • Assist in the training and continued training of all new and current Valets.
  • Post up in assigned Posting Positions on the floor when not actively assisting a guest.
  • Perform all other job duties as assigned.

 Qualification Standards
  • 1-2 years of hotel experience preferred, Experience in a luxury lifestyle hotel highly desirable.
  • 1-2 years of customer service experience required.
  • 1-2 years bell/valet experience highly desirable.
  • High School Degree or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree in hotel or travel industry management preferred.
  • Must be able to work a flexible shift schedule to include weekdays, weekends, AM, PM and overnight shifts.
  • Must be able to present a valid state drivers license
  • Must provide a clear driving abstract, with no moving violations for the past 3 years.
  • Ability to provide legible written communication.
  • Possess a good command of English and the ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate with Guests, both in person and on the telephone.
  • Fluency in a second language highly desirable.
