Job Description

Under general direction, the Spa Instructor leads, teaches, and instructs fitness classes.

  • Provides a safe, clean, motivating and nurturing environment for classes.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge of medical considerations of exercise, injury prevention, correct execution and instruction, appropriate class format and instruction technique.
  • Teaches large and small classes.
  • Displays a sense of rhythm and coordination.
  • Properly educates guests with attention to safety at all times.
  • Promotes all Spa services and products.
  • Prepares music and exercise format prepared before class.
  • Monitors members, owners and guests throughout the entire class for safety.
  • Maintains clean storage and work areas.
  • Adheres to all department standards of operation at all times.
  • Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of Spa members at all times.
  • Begins class on time and performs all classes within the scheduled timeframe.
  • Arrives to work fifteen minutes prior to starting time wearing name tag and proper athletic clothing or uniform (if provided).
  • Completes all required Company trainings and compliance courses as assigned.
  • Adheres to Company standards and maintains compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Technical/Trade school certification or equivalent in related field.
  • A minimum of six (6) month of experience required.
  • No supervisory experience required.
  • This position does not include any supervisory responsibilities. 


  • ACE, IDEA, AFAA, ACSM certificate from accredited organization, or equivalent in related field.
  • College degrees in physical sciences are also acceptable.
  • CPR/AED Certification (Adult, Infant, and Child Rescue)
  • First Aid Certification.
This position requires the capability to understand and follow both oral and written directions as well as knowledge and usage of correct business English and office practices.  Must be able to communicate effectively with others, analyze and resolve problems, maintain effective working relationships, and interact successfully with internal and external customers.
Specific skills and abilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and effectively adapt to changes.
  • Recognizes an emergency situation and takes appropriate action.
  • Able to establish and maintain a cooperative working relation.
  • Able to use sound judgment; work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Performs well with frequent interruptions and/or distractions.
